Why is the entire dorm moving furniture?

That was the thought on my mind when i woke up this morning. Obviously, as i don't live in a dorm, it was incorrect. It was the rumblings of a mother of all storms coming my way. By the time i was dressed and ready to leave it was upon us.

As i walked out the garage door i couldn't even see my car at the end of the driveway not more than 30 feet away. i took it on faith that it was there, and was rewarded for that faith by a large blast of lightning which lit up both sky and car briefly. Huge pelts of rain started to hit as i unlocked the door and threw my gear and my body inside.

i reconsidered going to work.

however apathy was overruled by stronger apathy. if i didn't go, i would have to walk back to the house in the torrent. the path of least resistance meant driving to the train station and hanging out until the storm died. if i sat longer than a half hour, got hit by lightning or swept away by a tornado i would feel justified in playing hookie. however, when a lightning strike a half mile from the road i was driving on threatened to blow me, my car and passing cars into the ditches with powerful waves of light and sound... that didn't seem so amusing.

the rest of my commute passed without incident. i invoked the name of God no more and arrived at work on time, and dry. i'm quite pleased with my 64" umbrella and have used it more often than i would really like.

That SOB storm kept me up for 4 hours last night! One boomer was so loud I swear to God we both got a foot of air off the bed out of a sound sleep... I haven't yelled like that since I was a kid... felt that electricity in the depths of my soul... the Gods are angry.

Good luck on the roads. Damn.
