And the Hits Keep Coming

Yeesh. The summer of suck keeps on rolling.

I've been laid low. Heather gave me strep throat, either on the Fourth in Chicago or while up in Milwaukee for Bon Jovi. It's more likely the latter because of the confined spaces of the car and hotel room.

Anyway, Ubuntu is rolling along well. Figured out dual monitors, but decided against it because of some performance issues. All my mail is imported into evolution. I'd like to get rss in evolution working, but that's been a bit rocky. I got RawShooter2006 (Essentials) working in Wine. I'm not 100% that the color representation is exactly right, but it's not too bad. At least I can easily process RAW photos. I haven't been able to test my GPS because the sun melted the case in weird and completely unusable ways. I also haven't yet been able to play with the bluetooth, but I've seen some interesting and encouraging things about syncing with my phone.

At this point, I see no reason to switch back to Windows.

Odd Dynamics

I recently noticed that Heather and I have an odd dynamic when it comes to sharing books. It popped up when she mentioned that she was hating a book I lent her. I too was having trouble with a book she had lent me. It turns out, we gave each other books we hate among a few favorites.

Each book was something we were required to read for some class or another, and was appropriately hated. But why share it if it was so horrible?

Based on the fact that it it wasn't done on purpose my best guess is the bad book exchange was done as a subconscious test. Even though we've been dating for years, we're still learning new things about each other.

It's just weird is all.
