Capital T and Capital M
I've jumped up in rank. No longer just a sales associate, I'll be a manager come Sunday. I'm not working for The Man, I am The Man. But I'm not keeping anybody down. Oddly, it'll be almost 9 months to the day, since I started working for Canine* Camera.
It feels right, and quite a bit scary. The pay jump is worth the extra effort. It'll slow down school a bit further but honestly, is anybody surprised by that at this point in my academic career?
I'm inheriting a decent if not well run store. Fairly full of battle weary veterans. Everybody has room for improvement, but nobody sucks. Personally I plan on trying to win everybody over by doing my shit as well I can. Then we'll see about changes.
*Not their real name. Not sure I want them to find me and my blog by googling themselves. If you want a hint, think of a wild member of the canine family. The parent company is Cracker Camera. Think round and salty, or that old song... "Putting on the Cracker"

Too much of a good thing
Got a call yesterday from the company which had promised a second internship this fall. They can't honor that commitment. Something about having already worked too long as a 'temporary' employee. Can only be brought back as a part-time employee with benefits, and they don't have the budget for that.
The Summer of Suck keeps rolling on.

Much love to Zoho!
It's amazing what happens in times of need. Amongst the people listening to Zooomr's problems were a few willing to help. The Sun reps in Zooomr's area responded quickly. Micheal Dell personally opened a help ticket to get the old server fixed. One of the evangelists from Microsoft even offered help.
The most amazing story has to be the help that Raju and his company Zoho. They've moved Zooomr into their data center, sticking with Kristopher Tate (CTO) to get the servers relocated, and have offered a lot of help during this tough time.
I can't thank them enough.
Zooomr and it's community has become incredibly important to me (I've donated a large chunk of money I don't really have to help out) and each bit of help we receive is personal. So if there's anything we (as a community) can do to thank our benefactors?.. You just have to ask.

Permanently Temporary
My forced vacation started today.
I received no stay of execution from the govenor, and got the most polite dismissal possible. Assurances were made that should I apply for next year's internship, they will interview no other candidates.
It is both a relief and a burden to no longer be doing this job.
