ohhhhhh soooo much to blog.
Meetings allllll day saturday, alll day sunday. stayed with
paul so i could get to the meetings. he's a got a nice place
in times square. hit flannery's, the black door, a great
peruvian restaurant near owais' place, good conversations and a new
understanding of our organization.
Because of financial revelations, I realize my goal isn't to have
a revenue neutral or positive conference, but a cash neutral or
positive conference. That is an entirely different story and
problem than you think. but i've got an OC, and hopefully i
can delegate a ton of stuff. ;)
so sunday after LTM was over, i escaped everybody and got to have
some alone time. the financial district is dead on a sunday
night at 9pm. it was so different from other times i'd been
there, and i really really liked it. i love the feeling of
wandering streets and pretending that they're mine or that i'm of a
priveleged group. it happens at purdue during the summer...
campus slows down, and privacy is possible. it changes the
balance between social crazy, and peaceful solitude.
Anyway, after my meander, joined people at Flannery's for a few
pitchers and a chill period. It had the same feel as the
financial district, empty of all except for a select few gathering
to relax. Then off to Kana, a tapas bar that kicks serious
ASS!.. In the evening they play latin music and people just push all
the tables to the side. And these people seriously know how to
dance, what a show. Shared a pitcher of sangria with Becky. Started
another one and she passed out in the bar. Classic!
Chatted with people at the bar, and finished the pitcher. We
caught a ride back to her place with Omar, Paola, Kai, &
Devem. Devem had to puke after we crossed the bridge, so we
let him out and went to "drive around the block" but actually
Omar dropped Becky and I off. LOL I'm pretty sure they
did find him... O, you rock out.
Had lunch with Becky
at a Turkish restaurant and flew home, and had dinner with my sister
and brother in law. So i'm back home, and life goes back to
'normal' i guess. I totally feel entitled to a weekend
right now. Too Damn Busy.
I did find the following quote, and it seems relevent after a
conversation I had with Owais, Steph, Amanda &
Shauna... "Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by
demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it
can introduce the idea that if we try to understand each other, we
may even become friends." -- Maya Angelou
anyway, gotta go
