Bounce

Bounced that whole Michigan City scene. Matt (the guy Mike and I are working for) couldn't come down on Friday or Saturday. So instead of spending my weekend doing dink work (Dink Work: the cleaning and general bullshit activities that are crucial to construction, but not very fun or satisfying to do.) I decided to cut and run.

Spent Saturday evening with my sister in Indy. Got to see my niece who is such a cutie ptootie. Then on down to St Louis on Sunday.

Got to my aunt and uncle's in time to go skeet shooting with them.  Apparently I'm not too bad with a shotgun. I hit more of the 'birds' than I missed and even blew away a few of the birds on the harder to time shots...

Then off to the hospital to see my grandma. She's finishing up a stay in the hospital for the second or third time in as many weeks. She looks horrible. The doctors have said "This is it. Say your goodbyes" about five times in the last month. My grandma however, is a tough old broad. Anybody who can survive everything she can ain't going down easy.

Anyway, hooray for wireless internet. St. Louis Bread Company (AKA Panera) has it in most of their stores. Got another lead to hunt down and a potential employer is supposed to call any minute...

Hope you are all doing well...

You won't believe it...

But i really am doing quite well...

Since i dropped off the face of the earth (aka my last blog or shortly thereafter) I've:

Spent two weeks in Michigan City - Working for Mike's friend Alice and her family. They've got a bunch of rental properties and a couple houses in need of renovation. So I joined the crew. Been a lot of fun, and I've also learned a lot, and gotten quite a few compliments about what I do know. to name a few things... putting up fences, putting up drywall, putting up trim, putting down quarter round, painting, cleaning, demolition, concrete pouring/mixing, deck building, framing, sheathing, nailing, screwing, measuring, digging, block laying, wall building, plumbing... etc

The family we work for doesn't have a lot to pay us, but we get paid in cash... and they give us places to stay... and often they feed us. so it's all good.

The week after that, i spent at home getting ready for my friend lisa's wedding. heather came with me... lotsa fun...

then this week.. back to michigan city... more constuction...

all along this time, i've made great progress with Rouxs. Today I spent the day (besides working for the kubiks) chasing down two new leads...

things are swinging...
