Kids... they do what adults can't

this is pretty much what i think of paris hilton...

god told us not to eat the apple...

here's why.

an article about why the motorola ROKR failed - all the different ins and outs of mobile phones, music industry and apple etc...

an article about the 'cool' of apple isn't good for the consumer long term or... how apple took over the music industry's place in screwing the consumer, and gets to screw the music industry too.

My nephew's birthday party will be at the local fire station.
It's a five year old's dream come true.
I'm jealous...

Run what you brung

Kaboom.

I'm still trying to catch my feet after the last couple weeks.

A couple weeks ago, I got two interesting phone calls. One was from a company hiring meeting planning interns. The other was from my friend Amy asking if i would get involved in planning a conference with her. That was a good day.

The interview for the internship went well except for one off hand joke by one of the interviewers. It was something about being a dead man walking or dead in the water. Referring to me. Not a reassuring joke to hear. But I did get asked back for a second round interview.

On the second Heather and I went to Chicago. Her family has a big 'ol boat, and had gotten a slip in Burnam Harbor for the holiday week. She and I stayed on the boat until the evening of the fourth. While on the boat we went to the Taste of Chicago, took a boat tour of the river and watched the fireworks from the water. Lots of time with her family, and extended family. The whole experience was awesome again (We did it last year too). Boats are some monstrously expensive things, but they can be quite enjoyable. Pictures are available here.

On the fifth, I went up to my sister's house in Northbrook and painted her family room. It's ungodly large, and TALL. So, a total bitch to paint. It was made more annoying by doing two shades of paint (found right next to each other on the color cards). It took a full day to get supplies and tape off woodwork, another day to the cut and paint the first color, another day to cut and paint the second color, and finally a morning to touch up and clean up.

I returned home in time to cover the three 'S's, and head out to the rowdie region reunion, covered earlier.

Today, I had the second round interview for that internship, and hope I made the right impression - that I'm qualified for, and very interested in the job. It'd be a part time position, with a good hourly wage from August to December. So flexible enough that I could still take classes, and make a little bit of money.

keep on truck'n

RRR Roundup

OK, my photos from the event can be found here.

I got to the city about 7pm, found the appropriate streets and then started looking for a parking spot. By the time I walked into the bar it was about 7:45. For an AIESEC event that "started" at 7pm I figured 45 minutes was a little bit early, but not too bad. How wrong I was. Only Adam was there. Not even the person organizing it was there. Bad form, Betsy, Bad Form.

Adam called Betsy and said she was bringing some people. My immediate instinct was that Jeff was the reason they were late. Probably something about stopping for a turkey leg at the taste of chicago... When they did finally show up close to 9... My suspicions were confirmed. As a group Betsy brought Jeff, Katie, Angie, Kristi and Bruni... If I forgot people... sorry.

From then on... it was smooth sailing. The bar was cool, some pathetic little band was singing covers in the corner. And more people showed up. Like Meyers and Katie K and Cooper. A few older and more random alums too, but mostly from that time fame.

Later, we left the bar, Lizzie McNeill's, and headed off to clubs. Hunt Club didn't work out, and we ended up at the Hangge-Uppe... good times were had by all. Stories told. Laughs Shared. Asses shaken. Friends not there were missed.

I got home at 6am wiped out and satiated.
